HELP FOR HEROES

Spennymoor Club hosted a DTL event on the 24th January in aid of the Help For Heroes charity which supports our countries armed forces personnel who have suffered injury in defence of this country.

This event was thought of as such a worthy cause that many shooters attended the event, not only those competitors just starting out clay shooting for the first time but the very top International shots in the trap world.

Prior to the clay shoot Mr A Canterbury head keeper of a very prestigious shooting estate in Yorkshire held an auction for a days shooting as his personal guest on this estate, this raised the sum of £400 and was donated by him to Spennymoor GC at the event.

THE FINAL RESULTS OF THE COMPETITION.

Despite the cold weather over eighty shooters attending this Help for Heroes day with 18 squads shooting the DTL and many others shooting the sporting practice and pool shoot.

After all had shot there were three competitors on 100/299 J. Adams, S Tate and J Thompson

A very tense shoot off ensued, J Thompson won the event with J Adams in second place and S Tate a very creditable third.

There was a raffle with around forty prizes to be won donated by local businesses and private individuals, showing how much this event meant to people in the area

Around £3500 was raised by the event for the Heroes charity.  Thanks to all who took part and helped with the event
