Help for Heroes 2011

Help for Heroes charity shoot took place on the 9th October 2011. The shoot was the final event in a number of events over the past twelve months. These event range from meat hamper raffles, superstore bag packs to the charity clay pigeon shoot today.

This was the third time that Spennymoor and District Clay Pigeon Club has held a charity event in aid of “Help for Heroes”, the last two taking place in January and October of 2010, these events raised £10,530.00.

This year it was decided that we would only hold one charity shoot but it did not disappoint. The day started off with grey skies and the thought of rain look on the cards, but once again the man upstairs was kind to us and the rain never appeared.

With over 140 entries in both events (100DTL: 50 Sporting) it was another great turn out for this worthwhile charity. There was also a large raffle and an auction to add to the day.

There were some exceptional shooting and both competitions were closely contested. The placing’s in the competitions are as follows;

100DTL                                                           50 Sporting

1st   N Chapman   99  296                                  1st   P Foster   50

2nd T Peel            98  294                                  2nd  S Tate      47

3rd  J Thompson  98  293                                  3rd  G Boetien 46

On the day there was a professional photographer who was taking photos of the event and they can be seen at the club where prints can be obtained at a small fee all of which goes to ”Help for Heroes”.

Below is a breakdown of the monies raised over the last year. I’d like to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to all my helpers who have given their time and their effort over this year, and to Spennymoor gun club for allowing the event to take place once again. I would also like to thank everyone who came to Spennymoor club to give their support weather they took part in the competitions or they just came to watch, THANK YOU.

The monies that have been raised will help our wounded young men and women who have served our country to be able to get the help and support that they need to live the life that they deserve to live.
